Measurement of Blood Oxygen
|
The measurement principle of oximeter is based on the absorption spectra of reduced hemoglobin (Hb) and oxygenated hemoglobin (HbO2) in red and near-red light. The working principle is to use photoelectric blood oxygen detection technology combined with volumetric sphygmography technology. Two beams of light with different wavelengths are irradiated to the finger end of the human body, and the measurement signal is obtained by the photosensitive component. After processing the obtained information, the bleeding oxygen saturation value is analyzed. Blood oxygen saturation (SpO2)
For most healthy individuals, an oxygen saturation of 95% is considered normal. A level of 92% indicates underlying hypoxemia, or lack of oxygen in human tissues. At low altitudes and in young people, blood oxygen saturation is generally between 98% and 100%. It usually doesn't go below 95%. But 90 to 95% of older people are probably normal.
