The ETCO2 module is usually includeing mainstream and sidestream. The mainstream module is mainly suitable for intubated patients, and the sidestream module is suitable for both intubated and non-intubated patients. Today, we will learn about the two ETCO2 modules and connection methods.
1. Mainstream ETCO2 Module1.1 Features
a. The mainstream ETCO2 module adapts the direct sampling method, which means that the infrared sensor is
placed directly on the tracheal tube joint for measurement.
b. The mainstream ETCO2 module analysis results are easily affected by water vapor, which often causes the measured value
to be too large by 3-6mmHg.
c. The advantages are fast response, long service life of consumables, and little damage to the sensor itself.

a. Plug the ETCO2 sensor into the CO2 socket on the side panel of the monitor;
b. Choose the appropriate mainstream airway adapter. The appropriate airway adapter is selected based on the body size of the animal, the diameter of the endotracheal tube, and the monitoring environment;
c. Embed the airway adapter on the CO2 sensor. When connecting the airway adapter to the sensor, ensure that the airway
adapter window is clean and dry, and clean or replace the airway adapter if necessary. Secondly, place the airway adapter on
the CO2 sensor and wait for the airway adapter and sensor to warm up. And then the screen will display the message
"Warming up" when the sensor and airway adapter rise to operating temperature. When the sensor is warmed up, the
message disappears.
2. Sidestream ETCO2 Module
2.1 Features
Our sidestream module makes the infrared measurement optical path above the water removal consumables, and the optical path is made into a structure that can be plugged and replaced. In this way, if water vapor enters the optical path, the measurement can be resumed by replacing this consumable without damaging the module itself.

a. If it is an external sensor, please plug the ETCO2 module cable into the CO2 socket on the side panel of the monitor;
b. Connect the airway adapter or sample line;
c. Plug the adapter into the adapter port;
d. Wait for the ETCO2 sensor to warm up. When the message "Warming up" is displayed on the screen, it indicates that the
sensor is heating up to the operating temperature. When the sensor is warmed up, the message disappears.
e. After the preheating is completed, the measurement can begin.
