How to measure SpO2 at home?
Oxygen saturation is the percentage of the capacity of oxyhemoglobin bound by oxygen in human blood to the total capacity of bound hemoglobin, that is, the concentration of oxygen in the blood. Blood oxygen and heart rate, blood pressure, respiratory rate, and temperature are the five most critical health indicators of the human body.
The oxygen saturation of normal human arterial blood is 98% and that of venous blood is 75%. It is generally believed that the normal saturation should not be lower than 94%, below 94% is insufficient oxygen supply, and below 90% is serious hypoxia, which needs to be treated as soon as possible.
Many people are very unfamiliar with this concept, but it is actually normal, because the instruments required to measure it are less routine than the other four items, and it seems that there are few other items that are more intuitive and commonly used in life. However, it is still an important indicator, and with the advancement of technology, everyone can test daily to give their health status as a reference.
