Blood oxygen saturation on the monitor refers to the percentage of hemoglobin combined with transported oxygen in the total transportation volume. It can be understood as the goods loaded on the truck. When there are too few goods and the truck is not fully loaded, it indicates that there is a problem in transportation.
SPO2 (blood oxygen saturation) refers to the ratio of oxygenated hemoglobin in blood to all hemoglobin that can combine with oxygen. It is an important indicator of vital signs. Its normal value is 95% in arteries and 75% in veins. Monitoring blood oxygen saturation can mainly evaluate the ability of hemoglobin in blood to combine with oxygen and alveolar oxygenation function.
The decrease of alveolar oxygenation function and hemoglobin oxygen carrying capacity caused by any reason, such as chronic obstructive pulmonary disease, carbon monoxide poisoning, will lead to the decrease of blood oxygen saturation. Monitoring the blood oxygen saturation of critically ill patients can not only monitor the basic vital signs of patients and judge their conditions, but also avoid repeated blood gas analysis, which aggravates patient injuries and medical care tasks.
